I mourned this dream of a dessert turned tasteless lump, then I got moving on fixing this thing! I took me a few tries but I added some of this, took out some of that....remade it 3 times...but I finally came up with the final product and tried it out at the church event that weekend.
It was a hit! Not only was it easy to make, but it being a no bake dessert meant that I didn't have to turn the oven on in the summer! Nothing worse than ruining all that lovely air conditioning with the oven, right?
I once destroyed a bouquet of roses because my kitchen got too hot baking in summer! Not doing that again! lol So a no bake dessert is perfect for picnics and other summer events.
Anyway, back to the event...so many people asked me for the recipe that day that I figured I better write it out so I could pass it around! Here is what I finally came up with.
Cherry Cheesecake Dessert Dip
Ingredients:
1 pkg. cream cheese, softened 8 oz
1 jar marshmallow fluff 7oz
2 tubs regular Whipped topping 8 oz each
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
1 can cherry pie filling 21 oz
1 Box of graham crackers
Directions:
Crush 1 sleeve of graham crackers and spread out evenly in a 9X13 pan.
Mix cream cheese and marshmallow fluff on low till blended, about 1 minute.
Add in Vanilla extract on low. Mix about 1 more minute.
Mix in whipped topping until blended.
Spread in pan over graham cracker crust.
Top with cherry pie filling.
This can now be served one of 2 ways. Either cut into squares and served with a square cake server or served as a dip. You can break the last 2 sleeves of graham crackers into single sticks and serve this as a dip. It's a little thick, but makes a yummy dip.
The graham sticks worked out well for the first party I took it to, however at the second party they started serving it as squares and eating it like pie. Yummy! Which is where the pie idea came from!
Either way it was easy, fast and using the cheaper 'on sale' ingredients didn't affect the outcome at all!
Enjoy!
