I picked some wildflowers yesterday. I'm sure most people would think they were boring or weedy, but I think they're lovely. When I saw them I knew that I just had to cut some to bring home with me. (they were in my woods so it's ok, but get permission otherwise) There were 2 different types of flowers so I cut a few of each. At the end of our driveway I also found some small white daisy's for filler.
I didn't think they would look right in one of my fancy vases, so I looked around the house for something more casual and settled on an empty Classico pasta jar. I'm a firm believe that if they didn't want us to re-use these jars, they wouldn't make them look so cute under the label! As awesome as a mason jar is though, this looked a little plain. The flowers were kind of plain to begin with...this jar needed something to jazz it up a bit!
I decided to try to make a bow, but all I could really find that seemed to 'fit the theme' was some twine. I wrapped the twine around it about 10 times and tied it so it wouldn't slip. Do you know that a bow made of twine looks really skinny and boring??? I tried fraying the edges but it still looked really skinny and boring.
*sigh* I dug through the craft closet for some artificial flowers or anything to make it look better. It's amazing how small my craft supply has become. Finally I found a pack of 3 butterflies that I had bought at the dollar store months ago. I tied one around the twine and voila, it looked a whole lot better! I liked it so much that I decided to give it to a friend and make another one for myself!
The one on the left needs just a few more flowers with some foliage to fill it out. I'll grab those today to finish it off. I'll probably keep the twine on the jar for other flowers. I can change the butterfly though, I bought several different colors (Dollar tree!) blue, purple, pink etc. I really think they're cute, plus I think it suits our decor around here perfectly!

Wildflowers are one of my favorite parts of summer. It's been mild here, so they are thriving.

Is that why they're growing so well this year? Makes perfect sense!
